DIANE
GOODMAN AND KATHY J. PARKER EARN CERTIFIED MEETING PROFESSIONAL
DISTINCTION
WINDSOR, CONN.,
October 12, 2005 – Diane Goodman, president of the Goodman Speakers
Bureau, and Kathy J. Parker, the Bureau’s manager
of meeting and event services, have both earned their Certified
Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Convention Industry
Council (CIC). The CMP distinction is considered the standard of
achievement within the meetings industry.
Goodman and Parker took the CMP in July 2005 along with several hundred
other professionals across the country. The rigorous exam tests
candidates’ knowledge of meeting management. Candidates also must
demonstrate experience in the field, along with and responsibility and
accountability for successful meetings.
In a letter notifying Goodman and Parker of the examination results, CMP
Chair John Parke, CMP, commended both executives “for having met the
high standards of proficiency in meeting management as demonstrated by
substantial professional experience and superior examination
performance.”
“The Goodman Speakers Bureau has been working within the meetings
industry for more than 25 years and have experience in numerous facets
of our profession,” Goodman said. “We are excited to formalize our
expertise and join the select group of meeting professionals who have
earned the CMP designation.”
The CMP designation, established in 1985, is a program of the Convention
Industry Council and is endorsed by the 30 organizations within the
meetings industry, which comprise the Council. Visit the CIC website at
www.conventionindustry.org.
The CMP program is designed to increase the professionalism of meeting
managers in any component or sector of this industry, recognize, raise
industry standards, and increase the value of these practitioners to
their employers and individuals to whom their services are provided.
