Mary
Boone is president of Boone Associates, a consulting firm located in
Essex, CT. She speaks, coaches, and consults to individuals and
organizations about how they can improve their performance through
innovative approaches to communication and collaboration.
Boone's fascination with communication in organizations is a 20-year
passion. As the head of her own consulting firm, she not only
coaches individual executives on their personal approaches to
communication, but she also helps them achieve enhanced
organizational results through her consulting, speeches and
training.
Boone's latest book, Managing Inter@ctively: Executing Business
Strategy, Improving Communication and Creating a Knowledge-Sharing
Culture. (McGraw-Hill, 2001) sets forth her innovative theory of
interactive management and communication and includes insights from
top executives such as Bill Esrey, CEO of Sprint; Gerry Laybourne,
CEO of Oxygen Media; and Steve Kerr, Chief Learning Officer of
General Electric.
Throughout her career, Boone has been an integrator of ideas across
disciplines. Managing Inter@ctively draws on wisdom from interviews
with over 80 communication, information technology, organizational
development, sales and marketing, human resource, and knowledge
management executives and professionals.
Boone's ideas have received widespread attention. Leadership and the
Computer (Prima Publishing, 1990, 1993), was selected as “required
reading” for Congress by the Speaker of the House in 1995, and
Successful Meetings Magazine selected Boone as one of the top 25
speakers for 1996. Among those quoting from and praising her work
are Tom Peters, The New York Times, CNN, CNBC, National Public
Radio, The Financial Times, Investor's Business Daily,
Computerworld, Information Week, CIO Magazine, Chief Executive
Magazine, and Industry Week.
While Boone's work always incorporates a focus on technology, the
human communication issues are of primary interest to her. Boone's
previous book, Leadership and the Computer contains compelling case
studies of CEOs, chairmen, and presidents who use information
technology to change corporate cultures, coach people throughout the
firm, manage organizational transition, and enhance their personal
effectiveness.
Currently serving as a regular columnist for Sales and Marketing
Management Magazine, Boone also hosts a regular segment on FMN, a
video series for financial executives. She has authored over 100
articles for a wide variety of general business and information
systems publications.
