Originally from
Omaha, Nebraska, Pat Hazell moved to Los Angeles in the early 80's
with lint in his pockets and a smile on his face. Hazell
toured the US extensively as a stand‑up comic and made his first
appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1989.
Hazell has since made six more appearances on The Tonight Show
with Jay Leno. Hazell began as Jerry Seinfeld's opening act and
later went on to write for the successful NBC series Seinfeld,
and perform as the show's studio audience warm‑up. As a
playwright, his first endeavor was Bunk Bed Brothers which he
co-wrote with Matt Goldman. The play opened in Minneapolis, then
Omaha and finally Los Angeles where it was critically acclaimed,
running to sold out houses. Bunk Bed Brothers, a knee‑high
look at the world from two brothers' perspectives, was optioned by
Columbia Pictures with screenwriting chores going to Hazell and
Goldman as well. Bunk Bed Brothers then gained attention from
the television industry and was filmed as the sit‑com, American
Pie for NBC Studios. On television, Hazell has appeared on
Seinfeld, Love and War, MTV Half Hour Comedy Hour, Evening at the
Improv, Comic Strip Live, and Showtime's Jonathan Winters
Comedy Special, among others. His writing credits include
Seinfeld, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Love and
War, and Showtime's Aspen Comedy Special. Hazell's latest
work, The Wonder Bread Years, a hilarious one‑man show & tell
is currently touring the country and being taped for PBS.
