Ed
Morrow began his business career as a financial analyst for Dun &
Bradstreet. Thereafter, he was the manager for a major life insurance
company, supervising marketing activities and training in the estate
planning and employee benefits areas. In 1969 he founded Financial
Planning Consultants, of Middletown, Ohio, specializing in planning for
corporate executives and business owners. The firm is now engaged in
software development, training and consulting for the financial services
profession.
Professional
designations: Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant,
Certified Financial Planner and Registered Financial Consultant. In 1997
he received the Certified Trainer CT designation from the International
Board of Certified Trainers. He has served as an adjunct instructor in
financial planning at Purdue University, Miami University of Ohio and
Wright State University. He appears regularly on the programs of Estate
Planning Councils and national business seminars, including the Financial
Planning Association, National Association of Insurance and Financial
Advisors, CLU Institutes and five times at the Million Dollar Round Table.
Twenty-two
training manuals for financial planning practice management have been
authored by him. For eight years he hosted a weekly radio show called
"Money Talks" on WPFB and prepared weekly columns for local
newspapers. He is currently a frequent guest on the Pavilion website with,
"Practice On Your Practice."
A
prolific author of over 400 articles on practice management and financial
planning in professional journals, He has also published three books on
practice management and designed eight software programs that are used by
over 4,000 financial planners, accountants and educators. The ProPlan
comprehensive financial planning software was released in 1980. The Text
Library System, which includes a Master Implementation Checklist of 750
planning techniques and over 5,000 pages of financial information that can
be used by a financial advisor, was introduced in 1982.
Mr.
Morrow has headed the Continuing Education Committee for the Society of
Financial Service Professionals (CLU & ChFC) and was the founding
President of the Miami Valley Society of the ICFP. He is a past President
of the 6,000 member Ohio Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
He served as a director of the Institute of CFP and as Mentor at the first
ICFP Residency. He currently serves as a director and CEO of the
International Association of Registered Financial Consultants. He also
directs the new Division of Financial Advisors of the National Association
of Insurance & Financial Advisors.
He
has been selected by Money Magazine as
one of "the 200 leading financial planners in the U.S." In 1992
he was appointed "Practitioner in Residence" at Wright
State University, where he assisted for three years in the enhancement
of its Financial Services curriculum. In 1994 he authored Computerizing Your Financial Planning Practice that was offered by
the College for Financial Planning. In 1998 he co-authored with Jeffrey B.
Kelvin The Complete Millennium
Preparation Guide for Financial Advisors. Mr. Morrow, in 1999,
authored the book Personal Coaching
for Financial Advisors, a reference guide for those interested in
enhancing their most valuable asset - themselves.
Ed
is a frequent presenter at national conferences of insurance companies and
broker/dealers generally on topics such as "Strategic Marketing
Solutions," "Personal Coaching," "Web‑Based
Marketing" and technology applications relating to Client
Relationship Marketing.
Currently,
Ed is the practice management columnist for Journal
of Financial Planning, a contributor on financial planning practice
topics for Financial Services
Advisor, and Financial Services
Journal Online, Advisor Today, the IARFC Register
and Probe magazine. His
articles, books and presentations have made him internationally regarded
as "an advisor to financial advisors." He has two manuscripts
under development for release in the fall of 2000
