Wes was born with a
heart for entrepreneurship, beginning several successful business
ventures in both high school and college. By his second year at The
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Wes was running a
franchised painting business with more than 20 employees and
finished as the top producer in the state of North Carolina.
After graduating with an Economics degree from Chapel Hill, he moved
to Atlanta, where he became a Vice President at one of the world’s
largest investment firms in just five short years. As a Certified
Financial Planner ™ Wes and his team manage more than $150 million
dollars for entrepreneurs and business owners.
In 2004, Wes was selected from millions of applicants to be a
candidate on the successful NBC show, “The Apprentice”. He has since
been interviewed by The Today Show, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox and Friends,
Kelly and Regis, and radio stations around the country.
In 2005, Wes published his first book, “Starting from Scratch –
Secrets from 21 Ordinary People Who Made the Entrepreneurial Leap”
through Kaplan publishing in Chicago. This book has become one of
Kaplan's best selling titles. In 2006, the book was turned into a
weekly television segment on NBC’s Atlanta & Company. The segment,
"Starting from Scratch", is hosted by Wes and features interviews
with the nation’s leading entrepreneurs.
Wes serves as an instructor at Emory University’s prestigious Center
for Life Long Learning, where he teaches several classes on
investing and financial planning. He also conducts educational
investment seminars and motivational talks for businesses and
corporations across the country. He has a passion for being involved
in the community and serves on the board for several charities,
including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and HERO for Children. He
is a member of Rotary International.
