Michael Rion
founded Resources for Ethics and Management to help organizations
and individuals become more effective through responsible
decision‑making.
Rion is recognized nationally for his
pioneering work in ethics training that successfully bridges the gap
between theory and practice. He provides consulting and training in
ethics and management, responsible leadership, applied values, and
collaborative problem solving.
Frequently in demand as a dynamic speaker, he has led hundreds of
workshops for managers and employees at all levels and consulted on
ethics and management with major corporations, and with government
and community groups. His clients include organizations such as
Aetna Inc., CIGNA, Olin Corporation, the State of Connecticut, The
New England, Sun Life, TIAA‑CREF, Warner‑Lambert Company, and many
others. He has also lectured and conducted workshops for
universities and professional organizations throughout the United
States and in Europe.
Michael Rion brings a combination of practical business experience
and solid academic grounding unique among ethics consultants. Rion
served for four years as Director of Corporate Responsibility at
Cummins Engine Company, where he worked directly with line managers
on issues of responsible management. Before forming Resources for
Ethics and Management, he served six years as President of Hartford
Seminary, an ecumenical center for continuing education and applied
research.
Michael Rion's lively, interactive leadership and his focus on
practical skills consistently earn him high marks from clients and
workshop participants. His book, The Responsible Manager, presents
the practical framework for effective decision‑making he has
developed through his years of experience working with executives.
Rion's book, says one reviewer, "Embodies the rare combination of
focused attention to the context and practice of management as well
as careful and thoughtful attention to distinctions and tools of
ethical analysis."
Dr. Rion earned a degree in business administration with highest
distinction from Northwestern University and received a Ph.D. in
ethics from Yale University. He is a senior fellow of the American
Leadership Forum.
