Joel Zeff is an award-winning comedian, creativity speaker, actor and writer based in Dallas, Texas. He has been entertaining professionally for more than 10 years, and performs more than 250 shows each year across the country for corporations, special events and comedy clubs.
As a speaker, Joel conducts creative thinking, team building and event entertainment experiences for companies and special events. The sessions focus on having fun and giving executives the opportunity to be creative and learn how to work together more successfully. Joel uses improvisational games and exercises to stimulate creativity, teamwork and problem solving. The games provoke participants to be more spontaneous, responsive and confident.
Since 1993, he has performed with Ad-Libs, one of the country's premier improvisational comedy troupes. Joel performs with
Ad-Libs at the troupe's theater in Downtown Dallas and across the country for corporate events. As an improvisational actor, Joel has studied at the famed Second City Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois. Joel also works as a television actor. In Dallas, he was most recently seen as co-host of The Movie Zone on UPN 21. He has also appeared in commercials for Time Warner Cable, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Sirloin Stockade, Eagle Country Markets, and Emprise Bank. He has also completed corporate videos for Hewlett-Packard, EDS, Andersen Consulting, Nortel Networks, Today's Temporary, and the Dallas Conventions and Visitors Bureau.
A former newspaper journalist and public relations executive, Joel started his own consulting business in 1994. His business focused on helping technology and telecommunications companies with marketing, advertising and public relations. As he came in contact with so many corporate cultures, he noticed the glaring need for employees to have more fun and reenergize their creative spirit.
Topics
Keynotes: These 60-90 minute sessions get the entire audience involved and laughing. Through hilarious improvisation exercises, Joel covers messages on creativity, teamwork, communication, and the importance of passion and fun at work. Joel electrifies the audience with laughter, yet enlightens with messages that create better employees and better people.
While each keynote can be customized to fit a client's objective, many prefer Joel's unique thoughts on how creativity and teamwork must be closely intertwined for success.
Improvisation is the act of using your imagination - without a script - to solve a problem. The games/exercises were first employed years ago by acting coaches to teach students teamwork, creativity and other skills in a stress-free and positive atmosphere. The games are effective teaching tools that break down barriers and provoke participants to be more spontaneous, responsive and confident. All of the exercises are easy, accessible and fun.
Any corporate group, any level of employee can play these games. Joel's theme of "allowing yourself the opportunity to be creative" and "it is amazing what can happen when you give people the opportunity" are brought home time after time, group after group. Clients are amazed as they watch their managers and employees play the games, have fun and learn about creativity and teamwork. What truly amazes them, are how the messages are retained and put to work by the employees long after the meeting.
Workshops
These longer sessions (usually 2-4 hours) are for smaller groups who want to focus more directly on creativity, communication and teamwork. Like the keynotes, the workshops use hilarious improvisation and creativity exercises to have fun and learn.
The workshops allow Joel to focus more intently on specific creativity and teamwork skills such as listening, trust, communication, risk-taking, confidence, openness and flexibility to change, positive support and breaking down barriers.
The workshops also allow more time for discussion. After each exercise, the group discusses the elements and skills that made the game successful.
Event Entertainment: Many of Joel's corporate clients seek him out to entertain as an after- dinner speaker. Joel uses a combination of traditional comedy and improvisational games with the audience to create hilarious entertainment. What makes the games fun and exciting in a learning environment makes them even more hilarious as entertainment.
Icebreakers, Meeting Openers, Meeting Breaks: Using the improvisation games in short bursts, Joel energizes and invigorates an audience. Many clients use Joel and his games to break up meetings with 5-15 minutes interludes that refresh the audience.
